The new science centre is being built to help protect the UK from diseases transmitted from animals to humans. Jenny Stewart, Senior Science Director at the Animal and Plant Health Agency, said:
“This funding is a vital milestone in the delivery of a world-leading facility that will protect the UK from animal disease threats for decades to come…Investment on this scale will enable them to continue their critical work in modern, fit-for-purpose facilities, supported by the very latest technologies.”

Awarded to Laing O’Rourke, the project is consists of two major buildings (the B950 and B951) the major contractor will be working on for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The buildings will be located in Addlestone, Surrey and upon completion the Animal and Plant Health Agency centre will be the UK’s foremost animal biosecurity facility.
