Fit-out and finishing is a key part of every building process, but unlike other elements of construction, buildings will often have over 30 fit-outs in their lifetime. Each one fundamentally impacts, not just the way a building looks, but how it performs and hence fit-out and finishing is fundamental to the wellbeing, safety, comfort and productivity of all those that live, work, play and recuperate in a building.
CIAT is a dynamic, forward-thinking and inclusive global membership qualifying body for Architectural Technology. It exists as a not-for-profit organisation to lead, represent and promote Architectural Technology and to set and maintain the standards for education, practice and professionalism. As a regulated Chartered qualification CIAT also has a societal responsibility. It is the only international body permitted to award the regulated and protected qualification, ‘Chartered Architectural Technologist’ and the protected designations MCIAT or FCIAT.
We are the Chartered Institute of Building, and we stand for the science, ethics and practice of built environments across the world. Everything we do is to improve the quality of life for those using and creating the built environment. We have a role in the management, leadership, education and development of our industry. For our members, guiding and educating them as they embark on their careers. For policymakers, defining the standards for all to meet. For the public, creating an environment they can live and work in safely, comfortably and confidently.
The BMA is the trade body for all global manufacturing businesses supplying the UK market, with over fifty full members who manufacture bathroom products and twenty additional affiliate members, ranging from SMEs to large multinational corporations. It supports hundreds of thousands more jobs in the installation and retail sectors. Currently focussed on two core areas of sustainability and product compliance, the BMA represents members by providing networking forums, sharing important information with our members, and influencing critical stakeholders.
Building People is a social enterprise that is creating connections across the built environment to address the industry challenges of diversity, skills and social impact. Its network enables employers to engage with a more diverse range of talent and also provides a joined-up voice to lobby industry and present collaborative solutions to the equity, diversity and inclusion challenges.Building People is increasing diversity across the built environment by enabling collaboration and by improving connections between diverse supply and industry demand.
BSI Identify helps construction product manufacturers solve the challenge of product traceability in the supply chain. With the help of the unique digital identification service that uses DOI (digital object identifier), manufacturers have a single place to add and maintain product information. This ensures quick, unambiguous identification of any product at unit level, and most importantly, continuous access to product information throughout the life of the built asset.
The Construction Products Association (CPA) is the leading organisation that represents and champions construction product manufacturers and suppliers. This vital UK industry defines our built environment, providing the products and materials needed for homes, offices, shops, road, railways, schools and hospitals
