Commercial clients are companies from the private sector that put projects out to public tender. In the private sector, projects are usually awarded directly rather than through a tender . Sometimes companies – or in exceptional cases also private clients – also put their orders out to tender in order to purchase for their private and commercial needs. These commercial clients use tenders to find a suitable contractor.
In contrast to public clients, commercial clients are not bound by public procurement law. The same applies to private clients. This results in a few differences. This means that private sector companies can freely decide whether they want to put a contract out to tender or not. Unlike public clients, they are not obliged to tender.
