What are Direct Award Contracts (DAC's)?

Direct award contracts are possible through the right circumstances where a procuring body may make a direct award of a contract to GAD without going through the competition stages set out in regulation PCR 2015. The circumstances where this action is allowed is set by regulation 32 of PCR 2015. 

When are Direct Award Contracts allowed?

The circumstances are as followed according to the regulation: 

  • Where an open or restricted procedure generates no suitable tenders or no suitable requests to participate
  • Where the works can be supplied only by a particular operator
  • In an extreme urgency
