The Home Improvement Index 2024
Regional Profiles: East of England
Six of the top seven boroughs in the East of England border or include stretches of the M25. This reaffirms the significance of London in the region’s home improvement market. But more interesting is the rise of the rural area of South Norfolk into the top 10 and the rising ranking of Broadland. In 2023 both saw levels of home improvement applications well above their pre-pandemic peaks.

House price growth in the East of England has been among the weakest with prices falling in 2023. Also, both economic and earnings growth have been weaker than most of Britain. However overall applications in the region, while falling slightly more than the national average in 2023, have fallen slightly less than most regions with pockets of strong growth.
