CO2 Equivalent Definition

The CO2 equivalent (CO2e) describes the global warming potential of a gas in relation to CO2. It indicates how much one kilogram of the greenhouse gas in question contributes to the greenhouse effect compared to one kilogram of CO2.

Why understanding CO2 Equivalent is important within the construction industry:

According to Statista, the UK’s construction industry produced over 10 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent in 2021, a 11.4 percent increase from the previous year. It is vital for the industry to reduce all emissions in order to achieve net-zero.
