Every office from across the globe takes part in a 10 mile walk to raise money for their chosen charity. Last year, Informa colleagues walked over 42,000km (25,000 miles) which is further than the length of the equator!
Barbour ABI voted and decided to support Cheshire Young Carers as they rely on the support of the local community and local businesses to help young carers across Cheshire in three key areas, school holiday respite programmes, individual & group support where necessary plus working with schools/colleges to provide specialised support where required. Principally Cheshire Young Carers is funded by private donations.
Simon Mahoney, Group Director of Barbour ABI says, “We are proud to be supporting Cheshire Young Carers with our fundraising efforts this year. The support they provide to young carers within our local area is invaluable and the charity relies heavily on donations made by companies and private donors. The team at Barbour ABI have put in a great effort to raise as much money as possible, we hope this will make a real difference to the lives of young carers in our local area.”
On the 17th May, the Barbour ABI team walked the Wirral Way from Thurstaston to Hooton, over 100 members of the team joined in and raised an incredible £10,500!
Alan Jones from Cheshire Young Carers said, “Barbour ABI’s support will directly fund activities for young carers in the local area, helping to provide a break to some of the thousands of children across Cheshire who look after a loved one. It will also help raise awareness of the ‘hidden army’ of this special group of young people and get them support in the future. Just £56 means a child can attend activities in the summer holiday which is a hugely isolating time for children who look after someone. Cheshire Young Carers will really benefit from this support and we are grateful for everyone who has played their part in helping these children get the break and childhood that they deserve.”
Thank you to our friends, families and colleagues for their support.
