As of January 2025, Barbour ABI is tracking and reporting on 332 UK wind farm construction projects either awaiting construction or under construction. These projects can be found on our project leads platform.
In 2024 wind provided more electricity than ever before, In fact, wind energy was the UK’s primary source of renewable energy and supplied 29% of the UK’s electricity in 2024.
As renewable energy sources increase electricity supply, the government will be looking to bolster these efforts as highlighted in the newly released Clean Power 2030 Action Plan. In regards to both onshore and offshore wind farms, the plan highlights the need to accelerate scale and pace despite the often lengthy project times both wind farm types typically accumulate. In total, the plan requires 43-50GW of offshore wind, and 27-29GW of onshore wind by 2030.
We’ve highlighted the biggest UK wind farm construction projects by value that are currently being tracked on our platform and highlighted key roles in the projects. Click the links to view more detail and contact information.
