Project Manager

We are going through an exciting period of new product development at Barbour ABI and are looking for a Project Manager to join the team to support with managing various software development and business change projects.

Reporting to the Programme Delivery Manager, the Project Manager will be based at our Cheshire Oaks office and manage delivery of projects by producing project plans, agreeing milestones, and working closely with delivery teams and Product Managers across the business to co-ordinate and drive actions to timely completion.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage delivery of projects to ensure success as defined by agreed scope and timelines – drive projects through from early stage of initiation to final implementation
  • Develop and maintain project plans and timelines by breaking projects into do-able actions and setting timeframes
  • Organise project meetings, communicating and driving actions forward to timely completion
  • Take meeting minutes and updating plans and documents
  • Co-ordinate between various Business Product Managers and technical personnel during all project phases, encouraging transparency of delivery effort, deliverables, and milestones
  • Work closely with delivery teams to understand status, issues, and risks, escalating to the Programme Delivery Manager where appropriate
  • Develop understanding of product requirements to support project teams
  • Build productive working relationships with team members, senior management, and project teams to ensure priorities are understood by all impacted parties
  • Communicate effectively between project teams, senior management and other key stakeholders to manage expectations and reduce risk
  • Produce status reports for management meetings and to facilitate fact-based decision making
  • Document customer feedback as appropriate
  • Ensure service delivery requests are triaged as appropriate and co-ordinate with business teams when necessary
  • Be an advocate for internal project management processes (such as the Squad structure and change control procedure), and support the Programme Delivery Manager to improve these processes

Requirements

  • Demonstrable project management experience within a software or business environment
  • Strong planning, organisational and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skills – including verbal, written and speaking to a group
  • Ability to make things happen in an environment of ambiguity and complexity
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence others
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new things
  • Ability to evaluate issues and problem solve
  • Ability to demonstrate a proactive/ can do style of work
  • Ability to drive actions to timely completion – have a focus on delivery

  • Ability to work closely with product development teams and cross functional teams and delegate tasks to deliver work

  • IT skills – (Microsoft: Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
Knowledge and Qualifications (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of collaboration and project management software tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Trello, JIRA, Confluence
  • Project management qualification (such as Prince2 or APM)
