As of February 2026, Barbour ABI is tracking and reporting on 65 UK offshore wind farm construction projects either awaiting construction or under construction. These projects can be found on our Construction Project Leads Platform
In 2024 wind provided more electricity than ever before, In fact, wind energy was the UK’s primary source of renewable energy and supplied 29% of the UK’s electricity in 2024. According to the National Energy System Operator (NESO), wind was the largest renewable resource contributor of electricity in 2025 producing more than 127 terawatt hours.
We’ve highlighted the biggest UK offshore wind farm construction projects by value that are currently being tracked on our platform. Click the Project ID links to view more detail and contact information.
Dogger Bank A & B – 2.4GW Wind Farm
The Dogger Bank Wind Farm is stated to be the world’s largest offshore wind farm. It will be located 130km off the north east coast and will have the capability to power up to 6 million homes annually.
The project consists of the development of two offshore wind farms with a production capacity of 1.2GW each consisting of up to 200 turbines each with heights of 315 metres.
The scheme will also include:
- Eight offshore collector platforms
- Two offshore converter platforms
- Four offshore helicopter platforms
- 30km of onshore cabling
Phases A & B are combined as one project and ranks second in the highest value wind farm construction project in the UK at an impressive £8bn.

FAQs
As renewable energy sources increase electricity supply, the government will be looking to bolster these efforts as highlighted in the newly released Clean Power 2030 Action Plan. In regards to both onshore and offshore wind farms, the plan highlights the need to accelerate scale and pace despite the often lengthy project times both wind farm types typically accumulate. In total, the plan requires 43-50GW of offshore wind, and 27-29GW of onshore wind by 2030.
Currently the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm project is the biggest offshore wind farm project in the UK.
However, the contract secured for the Berwick Bank Offshore Windfarm will make this project much larger, and will compete with one of the largest in the world.
