TED is the abbreviation for ” Tenders Electronic Daily “, an online service for the publication of public contracts of the European Union (S series, Official Journal S or OJ S). Another explanation of TED gives further details: Tenders Electronic Daily is the online version of the “Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union “. This is also the definition on the TED website. Literally translated, Tenders Electronic Daily means daily electronic tenders.
TED publishes 520,000 contract notices annually on the website ted.europa.eu – of which 210,000 tenders had a total value of around 420 billion euros.
The UK Government has created their own database to replace TED as of 1 January 2021 called ‘Find a Tender.’
