An acceleration payments are contractually agreed upon fees that the client pays to the contractor if completion of the project occurs before the decided upon deadline, otherwise known as acceleration. Used as means of incentive to reward for successful performance, fees can be of monetary or non-monetary value depending on the agreed contract.
Acceleration payments are made when the completed project benefits or gives advantage to the client.
Alternatively, the contract could include a contractual penalty should the deadline be exceeded beyond agreement.
